BIO
Damian Vicino is an Adjunct Professor at Carleton University and a Senior Open Source Specialist at Datadog. His work focuses on the intersection of software engineering, open source ecosystems, and developer tooling, with an emphasis on building scalable, observable, and maintainable systems.
At Carleton, Damian teaches modern C++, bringing practical industry experience into the classroom, and collaborates with the ARS Lab on discrete event simulation. In his role at Datadog, he contributes to open source initiatives and enables collaboration between diverse ecosystems, supporting the development and adoption of widely used
tools and practices. He also serves as Chair of the Package Management Working Group within the CHAOSS project at the Linux Foundation, where he works on improving the understanding and sustainability of open source package ecosystems.
