Alex Dines

Biography

Alex is a 2022 graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts, Honours in English Literature. As part of her Honours degree, she completed a thesis on how women are represented in Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories, exploring how their humanness or otherness influences their representation. While researching Master’s programs, Alex came across the Carleton Journalism program. She realized on reflection that she was tired of writing about fictional characters, and that she would be more interested in writing about real people and the stories that don’t get told. Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Alex is well equipped to handle rain and is naïvely excited to experience a true Canadian winter.
