Biography
Sam is a first-year MA student coming to Carleton via Wilfrid Laurier University, where he graduated in 2024 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. At Laurier, Sam worked as a writer, broadcaster, and communications coordinator with the Department of Athletics and Recreation, honing his skills as an aspiring sports media professional.
Sam’s love for Canadian sports and sports media has informed his research interests, which involve examining the Canadian sports industry through the lens of national cultural policy. Other interests include risk and crisis communication, specifically with regards to issues surrounding climate change.
Outside the classroom, Sam is of course an avid sports fan, particularly of hockey and basketball. He is also a guitarist and lover of all things music. You’ll find him cycling, hiking, or otherwise spending his free time outdoors as often as possible.
