Biography

An alumnus of Carleton’s Communication programme, Jen’s research foci include popular culture; audience studies; television studies, and especially reality television; and representations of consumption, family, and the home. Her current research project combines the work of Jacques Derrida and Walter Benjamin, among others, to re-think contemporary circulations and audience encounters of ‘snippets’ of popular culture. Jen also has a diploma in graphic design from Algonquin College.

Jen has been a contract instructor in the Department of Journalism and Communication since 2016, teaching courses such as Screen Studies, Global Media and Popular Culture, Media Audiences and Users, and Qualitative Methods in Communication.
