Boning Gao

Biography

Born and raised in Beijing, Boning possesses a BA Degree from the Renmin University of China in Literature with a specialization in Classics. She later completed her master’s degree at the University of Warwick, where she wrote her master’s thesis about the rising ethnonationalism sentiment in China.
Before Carleton, Boning pursued a journalism career in different Chinese media outlets as reporter and news assistant, mainly covering eonomy & finance and had the privilege of interviewing some of the most important figures in these areas. More broadly, she maintains an interest in fields ranging from disinformation to social media research.
She is looking forward to starting her graduate studies at Carleton University this fall.
