Biography

Alba Daza is an emerging Latinx director/podcaster/consultant based in Montreal, Canada. She graduated in 2019 from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema (Concordia University) with a major in film production and a minor in Theology. Her film Passion Politica was awarded Best Documentary at the 2014 Concordia Film Festival. Since 2020, she has been a producer on the popular podcast Buffering the Vampire Slayer, focusing on making the podcast more inclusive and diverse. Her work on the podcast has led to various speaking and work opportunities, namely a panel at George Town University on “How to Make a Podcast Anti-Racist” and course design at the University of Winsconsin-Milwaukee as well as at the College de Montreal. Her art focuses on telling and celebrating the stories of marginalised voices, giving them space to breathe and thrive. Through her work, she is decolonizing pop culture and unravelling white supremacy.

Her research interests include: Invisibility, the impact of Colonialism on popular media, sex and human trafficing, and gender studies. She is very excited to meet and collaborate with her peers!
