Wagner Filho

Biography

Wagner Filho has a BFA in Film and Video Production (graduated with Distinction) and an MA in Media Studies from the University of Regina. As a PhD student, Wagner will research the rise of Brazil’s right-wing political movements on social media platforms. He is interested in understanding the communication strategies of self-proclaimed right wing, ‘anti-establishment’ political groups, and how they are succeeding in using different social media platforms as a means to promote moral panic and the politicization of religion in order to undermine Brazil’s democracy.
