A theatre artist and communications scholar, Lowell has spent over 25 years in the Canadian theatre community. He holds a BA in Communications Studies and an MA in Media Studies from Concordia University where his research-creation thesis focused on performative media in the metatheatre of Canadian playwright Daniel MacIvor. He has been a researcher with the Encounters work group within the International Centre of Art for Social Change. Currently, Lowell is investigating communication between artists and the State in Canada. His working title for his dissertation is Singing for our supper: political style of arts advocacy in Canada.
