Xiaofei Han

Biography
Xiaofei Han is a PhD candidate at the School of Journalism and Communication, Carleton University. She holds an M.A. in Communication (Distinction) from Hong Kong Baptist University and an Honours B.A. in Communication Studies (Highest Honours) from Carleton University. Previously working as a digital marketing professional in Beijing, Xiaofei’s works address the shifting business models and growing monopolistic power of the leading internet companies in both rural and urban China. Her current research looks into the platform ecosystem of the Chinese e-commerce livestreaming, examining how it connects digital cultural production with offline manufacturing and agriculture and how it facilitates a Chinese version of platformization. Xiaofei is also a course instructor in the program of Communication and Media Studies and the program of Global and International Studies at Carleton.
