Nelofer Pazira was 16 when she fled Soviet-occupied Afghanistan and came to Canada. Since 2001 she has directed, produced or acted in five films, including the acclaimed Kandahar and award-winning Return to Kandahar. Founder of an Afghan women’s charity and past-president of PEN Canada, Nelofer contributes to CBC television and radio and writes for Canadian and British media. Her memoir A Bed of Red Flowers won the Drainie-Taylor Biography Prize.
