Biography

Semih Sahin Kaya preferred to study in the field of journalism to transform his deepest interest in learning and researching into a profession. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Journalism in 2013 and 2018 at Akdeniz University in Turkey. Throughout graduate studies, he studied the historical and social importance of communication, analyzed news production processes, and researched the gender identities presented in the media texts. While pursuing journalism studies, he gained experience by doing an internship in the newsroom and worked as a reporter, editor, and consultant in various media corporations. Throughout his career, he has published a variety of social, cultural, and economic news and has written many articles in communications and journalism. He plans to critically examine communication studies and create an innovative framework for the future of journalism. He has a particular interest in understanding how both the journalism profession and the media industry have changed over the past two decades. As a journalist and researcher, he cares about the changing norms and practices of journalism, what audiences expect of newsmakers, and how our relationship with journalism affects us all. He aspires to investigate public broadcasting corporations, to explore various perspectives on media and communication and to research the news production process in a multicultural country.

In his spare time, Semih enjoys hiking, exploring local cultures and researching innovations in communication technologies.
