Jen Siushansian

Biography

After completing the Combined Honours program in Journalism and Communication and Media Studies at Carleton University in 2022, Jennie (Jen) is continuing their post-secondary studies at Carleton University where they are pursuing a Master of Arts in Communication.

Throughout their undergraduate and graduate studies, Jen volunteered and worked in various communications-related professions in Ottawa. Their desire for working in the fields of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access, as well as raising awareness of mental health and neurodiversity, is fueled by such experiences.

Jen’s research interests include the representation of autism and neurodiversity in media, critical autism studies, critical disability studies, screen studies, including gender, sexuality and intersectionality studies. Their current research focuses on the significance of neurodivergent and autistic-informed portrayals in popular culture and entertainment media.

In their downtime, Jen enjoys doing jigsaw puzzles, spending too much money on iced coffee, and watching excessive amounts of reality television.
