Christina Spencer

Biography

Christina Spencer is senior editor, features and investigations, for the Postmedia news chain. Formerly, she was the editorial pages editor of the Ottawa Citizen, writing for and overseeing the newspaper’s robust local and national opinion file. She is a past winner of two National Newspaper Awards — for Editorial Writing and International Reporting — and of a National Magazine Award for social-issues writing. Her career has included local reporting, science writing, health and foreign affairs reporting, and coverage of Parliament Hill. She has been a city editor, foreign editor, managing editor, national political editor and editor-in-chief. She holds an MA from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton, an MA in journalism from Western University and a BA in modern languages from the University of Toronto. She is married to Ottawa mystery and crime novelist Don Butler.
