Tonya Davidson’s first-year seminar students participate in Michel’s Den

December 13, 2019

On November 26, three students from Tonya Davidson’s first-year seminar “The Sociology of Ottawa” participated in “Michel’s Den” – an ideas showcase organized by Quality Initiatives at Carleton University. Arden Day (Criminology), Taylor Robertson (Sociology) and Maggie Johnson (Childhood and Youth Studies) presented the first-ever student pitch at the Den. Their idea “Cardio to Kilowatts” presented the idea that Carleton should convert or purchase cardio machines for the athletics facility that capture the kinesthetic energy of runners, lessening the gym’s carbon footprint. The Ravens (the judges) and the audience were all very supportive of their pitch.
