Professor Bernhard Leistle awarded Mid-Career Research Grant and invited to teach at the Munich School of Philosophy

Congratulations to Professor Bernhard Leistle, who has been awarded a Mid-Career Research Grant from Carleton University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences to conduct a research project in psychiatric anthropology with the preliminary title “An Ethnographic Study of Personnel-Patient Interactions in a Psychiatric Clinic in Germany.” The grant will fund two months of fieldwork at the Clinic of General Psychiatry at the University of Heidelberg in 2022, initiating long-term research on psychiatric practices in Germany and Canada.

Professor Leistle has also been invited to teach as a Visiting Professor at the Munich School of Philosophy during his upcoming sabbatical. Professor Leistle’s stay is made possible by a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), submitted through the host institution. He will be spending the Summer term 2022 in Munich, giving seminar courses on phenomenology, performativity and their anthropological applications, as well as present his research at workshops and conferences.
