What nationality is the person in the world with the most Instagram followers? Which reality TV show features a sociologist coaching the participants? People scratched their heads over these and 35 other questions at the first annual Soc-Anth online trivia game on April 29. The event, to raise money to help endow the department's planned scholarship for BIPOC students, was emceed by Billy Flynn, with questions by Tonya Davidson and Aaron Doyle. 16 teams or individuals entered and there were 42 households from across the country on the Zoom, featuring a nice mix of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and instructors, staff, partners and family, people from other departments, and from the wider community, and many alumni from years past, such as Sociology PhD grads Cathy Tuey, Holly Thomas, Jen Wrye, Stacey Hannem, and Tamy Superle.
The winning team was Uncle Ho's Excellent Adventure, edging the Trivia Salmonbellies on tiebreak, with the SASA Groundhogs taking third prize, just a point ahead of Team End of the World and the Barflies.
The event raised over $2,600 for the scholarship. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success!
