Combinatorics – Grades 11 & 12*

*Refers to the level of mathematics and not to the actual age.

This course covers the fundamentals of combinatorics. Topics include techniques of counting, permutations, combinations, binomial coefficients, partitions, recurrence relations, generating functions, bijections, and selected advanced topics. There will be weekly problem sets containing questions that range from routine exercises to olympiad-level problems. There will be a midterm exam and a final exam.

Intended audience: The course is targeted towards highly motivated students with at least Ontario grade 10-11 math knowledge planning to undergo preparation for national and international math contests.

2024/25 Course Information

The course will run from September 2024 to April 2025 on Mondays 5:30-7:00pm (with a break in December).
