Resume Workshop – Session 1: How to Craft a Compelling Resume

Whether you’re a seasoned job seeker or just starting to explore the job market, this four-part, in-person Resume Workshop Series is tailor-made to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to stand out in today’s competitive job landscape! Attend every session, or just the ones that are relevant to you. This series allows students and alumni to get tips from a Career Consultant about resumes and includes time to work on your resume each session so you can apply the knowledge you’ve learned.
Session 1 kicks off with lessons on creating the foundation for a strong resume:
- Proper resume formatting and ordering
- Writing strong SAR statements
- Tailoring a resume to a specific job description
What to Expect
- Viewing a PowerPoint presentation that covers the above topics
- Working on your resume and seeking input from the presenter
- Participating in activities related to creating a resume
How to Prepare
- Bring your laptop, tablet, iPad, etc. to work on your resume during the workshop
- You can also print out a hard copy and write notes by hand with a pen and paper
