Admission Requirements
The minimum requirement for admission to the M.A. program is a B.A. Honours with high honours standing (or equivalent GPA from a four-year degree program) in Film Studies or a related discipline. Related disciplines include Communication, Art History, Music, Literature, Indigenous and Canadian Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, History, etc.
During the application process, you will be required to provide a number of documents:
1. Statement of Intent
Your statement of intent should include both your academic interests and the research project/field you wish to explore during your studies. You should also indicate the ways in which our MA program fits your intended project. To ease our ability to accommodate your objectives, please also indicate if you wish to work with faculty member in particular. Finally, your statement should be 1-2 pages single space.
2. Writing Sample
Types of writing sample may include a course paper, a chapter from a thesis or indeed a major research paper, preferably relevant to your proposed research area or/and to Film and Media Studies. The length may vary from 8-20 pages.
3. Official transcript(s)
4. Two letters of recommendation
