On January 8, 2020, a Ukrainian airliner crashed near Tehran, Iran. Victims of the crash included 57 Canadians. Among the victims, 34 people were employed at or studying in universities and colleges in Ontario. In remembrance of the victims and to commemorate the talent that has been lost, Ontario has provided publicly-assisted postsecondary institutions with dedicated scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Carleton University has been provided one (1) dedicated scholarship to be awarded to a student pursuing an undergraduate-level program of study, based on demonstrated financial need and merit, which includes academic achievement and leadership demonstrated through extra-curricular activities and community involvement. The scholarship is valued at $10,000. The deadline to apply is March 19, 2021.
Eligibility Requirements
- International or Domestic students currently enrolled and studying full time (in a minimum of 4.0 credits over the Fall/Winter session) in any undergraduate degree program at Carleton University
- Minimum CGPA of 9.0 or better
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Leadership skills demonstrated through extra-curricular activities and community involvement
