The Umoja Black Community Engagement Program is a recently established initiative dedicated to the academic, professional, and personal empowerment of the Ottawa regions’ African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) communities. The Umoja Program is managed by the Carleton University Student Experience Office and led by African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) Graduate and Undergraduate students and are hiring three student leadership positions to support their programming.

  • Communications & Marketing Coordinator – responsible for working with student associations and relevant stakeholders in the university in a relationship of solidarity to engage African, Caribbean, and Black students to attend and participate in ACB centered events.
  • Events & Operations Lead – responsible for the logistical development of all events for the Umoja Black Community Engagement Program while co-supervising three coordinator roles.
  • High School Coordinator – responsible for supporting ACB youth in their transition from high school to post-secondary including the development and delivery of Umoja’s mentorship programming.
