Please join us at this year’s PMC Fall Orientation to welcome new students, their parents and support persons to the PMC and Carleton communities.
PMC orientation is for all new PMC students and is designed to support your transition to university learning, and introduce you to the resources and services available through the PMC and Carleton University.

Welcome
A warm welcome from Bruce Hamm, the PMC Director, to kick off the morning.
Meet a Professor
Gain valuable advice and insights from a faculty member on navigating the transition to university, understanding instructor expectations, and how to approach professors for academic accommodations and support.
Breakout Sessions (concurrent)

Learn how the Paul Menton Centre can support your academic journey. This session covers everything you need to know—from setting up your accommodations to navigating the Ventus portal—so you can start the year prepared and confident.

This session introduces students registered with the PMC to Learning Strategy (LS) and Assistive Technology (AT) supports. Explore ways and tools to stay organized, study more effectively, and build academic confidence from day one.

This session explores essential skills and tools to help you manage the transition to university life. Learn about Carleton’s physical and mental health resources, as well as one‑on‑one support available through the Care and Support Team.

- Richcraft Hall is fully accessible, with elevator access and barrier‑free washrooms.
- The nearest Para Transpo drop‑off location is Stop #7: Richcraft / Steacie / Health Science. A full list of drop‑off locations is available on Carleton University’s Para Transpo Map.
- A low‑sensory room will be available throughout the event.
Parking
- Paid visitor parking is available on campus.
- The nearest lot is P16 – Richcraft Hall Parking Lot.

Support Person(s)
- Students are welcome to attend with a parent, guardian or support person. An information session for parents will be offered.
