As a part of the Psychology Colloquium Series, Dr. Yan Liu will be presenting on “Applications of Machine Learning and Data Visualization (DataViz)”. Join us in SA 304 on Thursday March 6th at 2:30 PM!
Dr. Yan Liu has authored 61 peer-reviewed publications, including 48 journal papers. Her research focuses on two major themes: (1) investigating well-being issues, particularly adolescent psychological well-being, and social and psychological factors that are associated with well-being; and (2) advancing measurement tools and statistical methods, especially in psychological and educational research. For example, she is a leading researcher in the exploration of the application of propensity scores in psychometric research and was the first to introduce mobile eye-tracking (glass-based eye-tracking) to study the effectiveness of robotics learning in children’s cognitive development. Currently she is collaborating with experts in statistics and computer science to develop machine learning methods tailored for psychological data with cluster effects. Additionally, she is an Associate Editor in Frontiers in Education and is a regular reviewer for high-impact journals, such as Nature Human Behaviour, Heath Psychology, Journal of Affective Disorders, etc.
