Adrian Chan hosted the Research and Education in Accessibility, Design, and Innovation (READi) program symposium Monday Nov 27, which launched the READI program. Prof. Chan was awarded $1.65 million from NSERC for this initiative, which performs research on providing support for people with disabilities.

All NSERC CREATE grants were announced at the symposium, which featured the following speakers:

  • The Honourable Kent Hehr (Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities)
  • Dr. Pierre Charest (NSERC Vice-President Research Grants and Scholarships Directorate)
  • Mme Yazmine Laroche, (Associate Deputy Minister, Infrastructure and Communities)
  • Alfred Spencer (Director, Accessibility Directorate of Ontario)
  • Dr. Keith Gordon (Vice-President Research, CNIB)
  • Dr. Alastair Summerlee (Interim President and Vice-Chancellor, Carleton University)
