Based on her book Sex Work in Popular Culture, Lauren Kirshner (Toronto Metropolitan University) examines how movies, TV shows, and documentaries from the past 15 years have reshaped portrayals of sex work. Drawing on Oscar-nominated films, hit series, and interviews with sex workers, her talk will explore how a labour perspective has replaced outdated tropes with nuanced figures, challenging stereotypes and highlighting key industry issues.
The event is free, but please register online.
