Tuition Assistance

If you’re looking for tuition assistance, here’s a listing of the awards and bursaries at Carleton for Indigenous students.

If you’re eligible for funding from your First Nation, you may want to get in touch with your education department so you’re on their radar if accepted to CJIIC. OSAP may also be a possibility, if that’s your preference.

Land Acknowledgement: Scholarship Opportunity

Each year, free CJIIC tuition is awarded to three students: one student each from the Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation, Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation, and the Mohawk Nation of Akwesasne.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a confirmed member of one of the three eligible communities
  • Have received an Offer of Admission to the CJIIC program
  • Submit a copy of your valid Indian Status Card
  • Provide a recent academic record (e.g. transcript, report card, GPA summary)
  • Write a 250-word personal essay on how you plan to use the skills gained through the certificate

Apply for the scholarship before June 1. Recipients will be announced on June 6.
