Mergime Berisha

Biography

BJ (Journalism and Law with a Minor in Political Science), Carleton University

Mergime and her family came to Canada 16 years ago after war broke out in Kosovo. This experience motivated her to become a journalist and to tell people’s truths. She is a published children’s novelist and has written articles for several digital and print newspapers. Mergime works as a content and research specialist for PROSAR Inbound, was the President of the Rotaract Club of Ottawa South for two consecutive terms, interned at WaterAid Canada and volunteered her time as a communications advisor for the Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa. She is driven by a nagging curiosity and need to know, blessed with a strong work ethic and skilled in multi-media, research, documentary making, editing, and writing. For her graduate thesis, she is interested in exploring how anti-terrorism legislation affects the work of journalists in Canada, the United States and Australia.
