Changing demographics in the region.
Joining the Globe and Mail one year out of J-school, Dakshana Bascaramurty was assigned to the Greater Toronto/905 region in 2012; two years later she won a National Newspaper Award in beat reporting for her coverage of changing demographics in the region. She’s still with the Globe, writing on race and ethnicity. Her first book, developed during a literary journalism residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts, comes out in 2019.
