Ana Sofia De La Parra

Biography

Ana Sofia is a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa, where she earned a joint Honours BSocSc in Feminist and Gender Studies and in Sociology. Within her four years at the University of Ottawa, she started her journalistic career with HER Campus Magazine as a contributor and published her first articles, starting with a strong piece about Women’s Day. Later, Ana Sofia also joined CHUO 89.1 FM as a morning shift news broadcaster, which helped her get a position on The Fulcrum’s writing team as a sports writer. There, she developed and honed her skills. Ana Sofia also found a profound love for sports journalism and how impactful it can be in society as a ground for historical and cultural breakthroughs, as shown in multiple periods in time.

Additionally, as an aspiring journalist and feminist, Ana Sofia hopes to intersect both sports and activism through reporting and explore the multiple improvements and developments that are happening within this media era around women’s sports and the contribution of marginalized communities to this sphere of work. Ana Sofia is beyond thrilled to begin this journey and start alongside the incoming cohort of MJ students while they work alongside each other.
