Marilyn Debassige

Biography

Miskwaabano-Kwe Marilyn Debassige, Caribou Clan, is a proud Nookomis who originates from M’Chigeeng First Nation (Michigwadinong) located on Mnidoo Mnising (Manitoulin Island). She is a descendant of the late Chiefs Ogaa and War Chief Nilbaakhom. She is a mother of four daughters and a Nookimis of four boys. She is a second level member of the Midewiwin Lodge and advocates for Anishinabek and social justice. Miskwaabano-Kwe has served First Nation families and children over forty-five years in the health, education, justice, and social service field aimed at healing and wellness.
