Erica Dixon

Biography

Erica Dixon is a Master of Journalism student at Carleton University. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Ottawa (2022).

Erica brings a professional background in international affairs and public history to her journalism. She previously worked as a Policy Officer with the Australian High Commission in Canada and as a Student Heritage Interpreter with Parks Canada. As an undergraduate student, her research on U.S. foreign policy was published in the sixth edition of Clio, the University of Ottawa’s undergraduate history journal. These experiences with the Government of Canada and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade strengthened her interest in how complex political, historical, and international issues are communicated to the public.

At Carleton, Erica looks forward to developing her skills in reporting, broadcasting, and podcasting. She hopes to build a career in political journalism, covering Canadian federal politics, Canada-U.S. relations, and international affairs.

As a journalist, Erica aspires to become a trusted voice on the issues shaping Canada and its place on the world stage, while holding those in positions of power to account. She is also committed to community service and to sharing the stories of diverse communities.

Outside of work and school, Erica enjoys staying active, spending time with family and friends, creative writing, and watching sports, movies, and her favourite television series.
