Dominique Habbouche

Biography

Dominique graduated from the University of Ottawa with a joint Honours in Political Science and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in Common Law, which she earned in 2021. Since graduating, Dominique has worked in both the public and private sectors, serving across various government departments and legal organizations.

Throughout law school, Dominique developed a strong passion for criminal justice and wrongful conviction issues. She pursued internships and employment opportunities that allowed her to build a solid foundation in criminal law, including positions with the House of Commons, the Department of Justice, Legal Aid Ontario’s Criminal Law division, and Armoured Suits: Criminal Defence Lawyers.

Drawing on her extensive background in criminal law, Dominique is committed to leveraging her legal expertise, academic training, and dedication to justice to help uncover and address systemic issues within the criminal justice system. Upon completing the Master of Journalism program, she intends to pursue reporting and investigative journalism using her legal perspective to analyze complex issues and shed light on critical matters affecting the criminal justice system.

Outside of her legal practice, Dominique enjoys travelling and maintaining an active lifestyle through pilates and tennis. In her free time, she enjoys going to coffee shops, listening to podcasts, and watching true crime documentaries.
