
Sarah Harb
Biography
Originally raised in Ottawa, Sarah returned to Canada’s capital after earning a B.A.Sc. in Human Behaviour from McMaster University. Her studies examined the intersection of neuroscience, information-processing, and decision-making, with a focus on how foundational beliefs, values, and political behaviours are formed and expressed.
Influenced by a childhood steeped in academic literature, Sarah explores the human experience as it overlaps with social, religious, and governmental systems. Her time spent across the Middle East shaped her understanding of diasporic and conflict-affected realities, informing her goal of fostering a more empathetic and accurate view of regions that are often misrepresented. Her work in the arts sector, which included interviewing artists and contributors across Canada, deepened her appreciation for the arts as a tool for cultural preservation and sociopolitical healing.
Sarah sees journalism as a shared societal responsibility – one that fosters public understanding of complex issues with accuracy, accountability, and humanity. Her mantra is to remain curious, embrace the complexity of a nuanced world, and to always question everything. Sarah is excited to join the MJ cohort and looks forward to learning from her peers’ diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
