Jacob Hatzizaphiris

Biography

Jacob recently graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction in Film Production. Throughout his studies, he developed a strong interest in documentary filmmaking, social issues, and international politics. He is particularly drawn to engaged documentary storytelling and hopes to combine his background in cinema with journalism, enriching his work as a documentary director through the skills and ethics of reporting. Along the way, he wrote and directed several independent short films, gaining experience conducting interviews, crafting visual narratives, and telling compelling stories through film.

Originally from the suburbs of Montreal, Jacob is excited to begin this new chapter in Ottawa and to get to know his fellow Master of Journalism classmates. Outside of school, he enjoys going to the cinema, hiking, and getting lost in a good book.
