
Augusta Hofmann
Biography
Augusta is a recent graduate from Carleton University, where she earned an Honours Bachelor of Communications and Media Studies. Throughout her undergraduate degree, she developed a strong interest in arts and culture, social justice and the ways intersectionality is a protruding factor in nearly every aspect of society.
As a volunteer writer for The Inverness Oran, a community newspaper in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Augusta reported on local stories and gained a first-hand appreciation for the vitality of accessible journalism. She also gained experience writing for Carleton’s HerCampus magazine, expanding on her personal interests in digital media, culture, and fashion.
Alongside her love of reading and writing, her interest in the ever-evolving relationship dynamics between journalism and the public is what inspired her to pursue the Master of Journalism at Carleton. Augusta looks forward to developing her reporting and storytelling skills while learning from the opportunities and experiences the program offers.
