Emma Lesyk
Biography
Emma Lesyk is a recent graduate from the University of Calgary, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. There, she enhanced her interest in storytelling into a desire to understand the ways digital media and popular culture shape humanity. She began volunteering to write articles for the UofC campus newspaper, The Gauntlet, during her second year.
Influenced by her upbringing in a sports-loving family, Emma’s interest in storytelling developed into a rigorous passion for sports journalism, particularly centered around sports culture and its global impact on society. Her latest article explores hockey culture’s influence on youth players and what it means for future generations.
In addition to her sports background, Emma has a fervent fascination for the political world and a desire to live in a bustling environment of governance, leading her to choose Carleton’s MJ program. With this program, she plans to continue her journalism work with a focus on broadcasting and audio sports reporting.
When she is not studying or writing, you can find Emma reading a fantasy novel or kicking back and watching a hockey game.
