From Carleton to the Olympic Games.
Linda Thom may be Carleton journalism’s only graduate to have carried the Canadian flag at an Olympic Games ceremony. When Thom won the women’s 25m sport pistol at the 1984 Olympics, she was the first Canadian woman to receive a Summer Games gold medal in 56 years. Thom became a Member of the Order of Canada in 1985 and a member of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1992.
