Raquel Medina
Biography
As a recent graduate from the University of Alberta, Raquel holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Anthropology. Throughout her time in school, Raquel was fortunate enough to serve on the editorial boards of four separate on-campus publications, one of which she managed as acting Editor-in-Chief for a year-long tenure. Coming from a background in academic publishing and political science, Raquel has a profound passion for innovative research, as well as an acute interest in exploring the cultural intersection between journalism and political conflict. In recent years, Raquel has been able to hone this passion, and pursue opportunities to travel to different post-conflict regions around the world, notably, Latin America and East Africa.
As an aspiring multimedia journalist, and fluent speaker of Spanish, Raquel hopes to continue working within an international context, exploring the journalist angle of political instability in post-conflict regions. Raquel is thrilled to be part of the incoming cohort of MJ students, and can’t wait to begin working alongside them!
