Rheanna Philipp
Biography
Rheanna Philipp is an audio producer, technician, and knowledge translator returning to Carleton for her Master of Journalism through advanced-entry standing. She is the audio producer and sound editor for Commons Sense, and she owns and runs Audessa Studios, her own creative communications practice.
There is something magical about sound, the way it can take a listener somewhere completely new. Rheanna believes oral storytelling is one of the most powerful ways humans connect, and she takes a trauma-informed approach to every story she works on. She has carried that belief into roles across government and corporations, using storytelling to push for real system change. To her, good journalism is about building empathy and bringing people together.
Rheanna is an advocate for women’s health. She believes menstruators deserve real access to information about their own bodies. She is returning to Carleton to pursue her Research Project, Is THIS Really Normal?, a podcast on the systemic dismissal of women’s pain across menstruation, motherhood, and menopause, and to help dismantle medical misogyny.
