Polina Ilinykh

Biography

Polina is a journalist from Ukraine. She landed in Canada in May 2022, escaping the war.

In Ukraine, she graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a Bachelor of Journalism degree in 2022. She interned and published her written and audio work in the Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine and the Ukrinform news agency.

She also volunteered for a charity organization, Caritas, producing technical articles and podcasts about the organization’s activity in Ukrainian and English.

Polina is passionate about journalism, informing the public about the government’s decisions and policies that influence people’s lives, and telling compelling stories.

Polina also loves spending time in nature with her two younger sisters. She has been singing since grade four and was a lead singer in a student band in her Undergrad.

She is very grateful for the opportunity to live, study, and work in Canada, where there’s peace. Polina hopes to make a valuable contribution to Canadian society and journalism.
