Simon Hopkins

Biography

Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Simon has spent time living around the world before landing in Ottawa for university. Simon graduated from Carleton University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management specializing in International Policy Studies, Security, and Defence.

Simon served as a page in the Senate of Canada throughout his undergraduate studies. There he worked to ensure the effective operation of the Senate, its committees, and special events, including the Speech from the Throne. During this time, Simon developed a passion for the Canadian political process and acquired in-depth knowledge of parliamentary procedure.

As a young journalist, Simon has covered sports at the collegiate, professional, and Olympic levels. He is particularly passionate about diversity and inclusion in hockey and the long-term success of paid professional women’s sports.
