Alyssa Wheeler

Biography

Alyssa Wheeler is a recent graduate from McMaster University, where she earned a Bachelors of Applied Science in Human Behavior. She also completed a minor in Political Science and a certificate in Science Communication.

During her undergraduate career, Alyssa served as the sports reporter for the university’s student newspaper. Here, she built a foundation in storytelling and a passion for interviewing athletes, coaches and athletic administrators. She also helped to create and host a podcast focused on the intersection of science and public policy, deepening her interest in communicating complex issues clearly.

She is passionate about credible journalism that all readers or listeners can understand. Through pursuing the Master’s of Journalism at Carleton, Alyssa hopes to gain the skills to create content that bridges science, policy and ethics that drives real world change. She is excited to join this year’s MJ cohort and collaborate with other students and professors in learning and creating great pieces of work!
