Journalism Professor and Scholar
Degrees: | BJ ’49 |
A war vet that dedicated 40 years to Carleton.
When war vet and former reporter Wilfred Kesterton graduated from Carleton’s new Bachelor of Journalism program in 1949, he was immediately hired as the program’s second full-time faculty member. He remained for 40 years, helping educate several generations of Canadian journalists, and became a leading scholar of Canadian journalism history and media law. The annual Kesterton Lecture has been Carleton Journalism’s signature annual public event since its inauguration in 2001.
