I have always been passionate about learning and teaching languages. Learning English gave me a deeper understanding of English-speaking cultures, while teaching Chinese in the USA and Canada provided insights into the subtle differences between languages and cultures. I recognize that language learning challenges vary for each learner, and I use technology along with communicative activities to address these difficulties and enhance language proficiency. Tools like machine translation and generative artificial intelligence, such as ChatGPT, are invaluable resources for language learners. This is why I chose to conduct my PhD research on the affordances and effects of using MT in research writing by L2 writers.

Chinese is one of the most ancient and beautiful languages in the world. Learning Chinese is a journey into the culture and people of China, making the experience enjoyable and helping learners make more friends. Additionally, learning Chinese opens up numerous job opportunities in international business, trade, and diplomacy. Welcome!
