Impressions of the Day

Dear Allan,
Congratulations on the wonderful symposium you have put together. It looks fascinating, and it is with genuine regret that I must tell you that I cannot attend. I observe the Jewish Sabbath and am unable to attend for that reason. Otherwise, I would be delighted to go—not just because it is a FASS-sponsored activitiy, and not just because it is the first of the NEW SUN series, but because it looks so interesting.

Bravo Allan!
It was a superb day… everything 110%… in fact to use a 60’s word. It was a happening! The lunch absolutely scrumptious! Looking forward to next year’s!

Allan,
I mentioned this to you at the end of the conference, but thank you, again. I really enjoyed the day and it was easy to see that others did as well.
Cheers,

Dear Allan,
I never did get a chance to thank you for forwarding the information on the symposium to me. I attended the event that day and I enjoyed the entire thing—one of the most enjoyable conferences I’ve attended in a long while! Please put me on your mailing list for future events.
Best wishes,

Hi – Oki Dr. Ryan
Thank you… for such a wonderful day, AND for your honorarium—Iain [Phillips, Mohawk elder and flutist] and I enjoyed being a part of this very much! It was a very good conference, and one worth continuing. The guests were great! I knew many people there at the conference—some, I haven’t seen for a long time… so it was good to catch up! I had a great chat with John Medicine Horse Kelly—it was nice to have finally met him. I wish you and I could have had more time to talk—but I am sure we will in the future. THANK YOU for extending us the invitation… So there were chuckles today, new friendships created, sharing of arts and ideas, and a general rejuvenation of the spirit to remind us all that we are not alone wishing a world in harmony and of peace. Thanxs Again. Cheers!
Sincerely,
Paula du Hamel
Piegan drummer and dancer, PhD student, symposium participant

Dear Mr. Ryan,
Thank you once again for the highly successful symposium last Saturday. What a wonderful panel of speakers, who spoke from the heart, sharing their spirit of healing. I listened, I learned, I met people there I knew from the community—the energy in the room and the lobby was so positive, everyone was feeling connected, and its thanks to you that we all came together on this day… Oh yes, and the food was also so very good for the soul. Chi Megwetch. Please continue to do such inspiring work. Your thoughtfulness was very much appreciated.
In unity & spirit,

Allan:
Congratulations on today’s symposium… what I heard was fascinating and the audience was clearly riveted.

Dear Allan,
A word of congratulations on your symposium, which was both informative and entertaining. I regretted very much having to leave early, particularly as the meeting that took me away turned out to be not nearly so interesting. I’m looking forward to your next symposium.
Best,
Olive Dickason
Professor Emeritus, University of Ottawa

I just wanted to send you this quiet note to tell you that I truly enjoyed my day attending the First Annual New Sun Symposium held on Saturday, March 2, 2002. It was a day full of laughter and ideas on coping and healing through the arts. I would be most interested to learn about any further conferences, symposiums or workshops that may be coming up. I will look at the Carleton website for upcoming events that I may also attend. Please also pass on my compliments and thanks for the food. It was excellent, as were the music and conversations.
Regards, and thanks again,
