Advice from Haley:
“The way I approach lectures and readings in my discipline is by getting ahead of the lectures. I do this by going over each week’s reading and lecture slides prior to the lecture being held. For math-based content, I usually do written notes. With this type of content, it is less about memorization and more about practicing. By writing things down, I am more hands on and more likely to remember what I did when I recall the content later. I use coloured pens/markers and highlighters to organize the content. I tend to make very simple, concise notes in lecture. For the most part, these notes will be a rough draft. After the lecture, I will go over the notes I made from my readings and combine the two sets I have, using the organizational techniques I mentioned above.”
