Capital Development and Infrastructure Renewal
Overview
Carleton University is building on our strengths by investing to improve our facilities and infrastructure to move us forward and beyond. The University is taking significant strides towards improving the conditions of facilities through a combination of new infrastructure and the renewal of existing buildings.
Carleton’s Board of Governors approved a $140 million budget over 10 years to address pressing capital improvements to significantly reduce the level of deferred maintenance on our campus.
Carleton’s Capital Development and Infrastructure Renewal team is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of major capital construction of new facilities and renovation projects related to the reduction of deferred maintenance and infrastructure renewal
The primary purpose of these projects is to support the goals of Carleton University through the fostering of academic innovation, enriching student experience, strengthening enrollment, supporting research excellence, sustaining campus renewal and engaging our community.
What we do
- Collaborate with campus stakeholders to create great spaces for people to teach and learn, conduct leading edge research, and enjoy the life of the campus community.
- Identify infrastructure requirements and renewal requirements of existing buildings and prepare feasibility reports for campus planning and construction.
- Coordinate and control all aspects of infrastructure projects to produce a well designed and constructed facility, to ensure the University has a safe and healthy environment in which to work, study, and conduct classes or research.
- Provide project management services for infrastructure projects related to renovation construction or new building construction.
- Assist with developing business cases and translating user needs into architectural requirements to ensure the project meets the user’s requirements of function, schedule and budget.
- Ensure construction projects meet and exceed all standards in terms of cost control, building codes, environmental health and safety, occupant’s convenience, design durability and maintenance.
