- In-person event
- Online and A200 Computer Lab, Loeb Building, Carleton University
- 1125 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa, ON, K1S 5B6
- Cost: $695
This 3 day workshop, led by Dr. Rassoul Mahiny and Dr. Scott Mitchell, is for those individuals with a basic understanding of Windows, Remote Sensing (RS), and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Hybrid Delivery: Participants will have the option to attend in person or online. Computers are available in the Loeb A200 Computer Lab for those attending in person. Participants are asked to contact lifelonglearning@cunet.carleton.ca if attending online to ensure that personal computing requirements will be suitable to attend online.
Learn how to:
- Understand the basics of Markov Chains, Cellular Automata and the functioning of SLEUTH
- Install SLEUTH on Windows using Cygwin
- Prepare input maps for SLEUTH
- Execute SLEUTH through three calibration steps
- Fine-tune urban growth coefficients during calibration
- Apply growth coefficients to forecast future urban expansion
- Modify growth coefficients to generate scenarios for future urban growth
- Compare different growth scenarios
- Develop a framework to connect results with relevant environmental components
