Multimedia Specialist Tai Zimmer, along with History Professors Dominique Marshall and Pamela Walker had a difficult task choosing among the four historical documentaries on view at the Film Screening on Wednesday, April 7. Four teams of undergraduates presented the documentaries they produced as part of Filmmaker Michael Ostroff‘s popular 4th year seminar, HIST 4302 – Making Documentary History.

While the films were excellent, two among them stood out:

Riley Peckford, Ellis Buschek, Brooke Peloquin, and Taylor Blewett

Instructor’s Runner-Up Selection:

Both “Stolen Moments” and “Song of Escape” will be shown again at the Underhill Undergraduate Colloquium this Friday, April 7th, followed by a Q&A session with our talented student producers.

The other two excellent student documentaries were:

  • “Coming in from the Cold.” Produced by Eleanor Barney, Maya Gwilliam, & Travis D’Arcey. This film explored the Diefenbunker.
  • “Hidden in the Wool.” Produced by Graham Bianchi, Shannon Ford, & Victoria McCaldon. The focus on this film was child labour in the Almonte textile mills.

Congratulations to all our HIST 4302 students for all their dedication and hard work!
