My Master’s thesis research looks at child labour, cocoa production and the construction of African childhood in the colonial Gold Coast. My work explores the different ways in which children participated in the labour force in the Gold Coast and seeks to complicate the ways in which their experiences and actions have traditionally been viewed by historians.
